    Tinubu scraps Niger Delta, sports ministries, merges tourism with culture, creative economy

    President Bola Tinubu has scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development in a major restructuring move.
    Mr. Tinubu also merged the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
    The decision was taken during Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, on Wednesday in Abuja.
    The development was contained in a tweet by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on his verified X handle, @aonanuga1956.
    According to Onanuga, a new Ministry of Regional Development will oversee regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission and North East Development Commission.
    In the report by the Nation, the National Sports Commission will assume the responsibilities of the defunct Ministry of Sports Development.
    “President Tinubu and Federal Executive Council scrap Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of sports development. There will now be a ministry of regional development to oversee all the regional development commissions, such as Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission , North East Development Commission.
    “The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.
    “The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
    “The decisions were taken today at the meeting of Federal Executive Council in Abuja,” Onanuga said.
