The Niger state government has disclaimed to a fraudulent online portal currently circulating on various social media platforms, claiming to be a registration platform for a Niger State Youth Empowerment and Farmers’ Grant.

    The government in a
statement issued by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman on Tuesday explained that the state government has not launched any such registration portal for Youth Empowerment or Farmers’ Grant.

He explained that the purported registration portal is the handiwork of unscrupulous elements seeking to defraud unsuspecting citizens.

He said, “I strongly advised members of the public to disregard any message, link, or information regarding this fake Grant Programme, avoid submitting their personal information on any such portal and be vigilant against similar fraudulent schemes that attempt to exploit the name of the State Government”.

According to the SSG, “the Niger State Government wishes to emphasize that all legitimate Government programmes and initiatives are announced through official channels, including the State Government’s official website and verified social media handles”.

He insistedthat when any empowerment programme is launched, it will be properly communicated through these official channels.

Alhaji Usman urged the public to report any suspicious links or information about this fraudulent scheme to the relevant security agencies.
