    Niger Foods targets N1.6trn from livestock

    *Process, package 1,000,000 chickens everyday by 2030

    The Niger Foods Ltd has set the target of raking in one million dollars, equivalent to N1.6trn Naira from the livestock in the next four years.

    The company has in addition, is also targeting the processing and packaging of 1000,000 chickens everyday by 2030.

    The Executive Chairman of the company, Sammy Adigun stated this Tuesday in a presentation submitted to the Presidential Committee on Livestock and Fishery Co- Chaired by Professor Attahiru Jega during a stakeholders meeting Minna.

    He said that by the end of this year 2025, the Niger Foods Ltd should have been able to process at least 25,000 chickens a day.

    He said, ” our target is one million dollars, that is N1.6trn in livestock over the next four years. It is also our ambition that in 2030 we should be able to in terms of poultry, process at least 25,000 chickens everyday “.

    Adigun said that the company is settling up layer, hatching breeding and broiler houses.

    According to him, “we believe that the poultry sector will employ about 100,000 people including value chain production of feeds, health care workers and those to be engaged as packagers and marketers “.

    In terms of cattle, the Executive Chairman explained that within one year, an automated abattoir with the capacity to process 400 heads of cattle, 600 sheep and goats would be established at the Minna airport Agro Free Zone.

    According to him, ” our ambition is to be able to fly out at least one cargo every day. We also aim to establish six new cattle markets in the state with standard and quality control. The would be located at Beji, Kontagora, Mokwa, Bida and Jebba”.
