Banditry: Borgu victims get HYPPADEC N50m relief materials

National Hydro-electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has distributed building materials worth over N50m to the victims of banditry attacks in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger state.
The Managing Director of the commission, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa (Katukan Yauri) stated this during the official flag off of the exercise on Tuesday.
While sympatized with the affected victims, the Managing Director explained that the intervention was based on request the victims for building materials.
He listed the donated relief materials to include 600 bundles of roofing sheets, 1,000 bags of cement, 60 bags of wood nails, 300 package of roofing nails.
The Managing Director applauded the Niger state government for the consistent support and interventions to the citizens in terms of need.
He cautioned residents especially those living along riverine areas and flood prone areas to be aware of heavy rain expectations and clear the drainages not waiting for government, to avoid anticipated flooding in their communities.
According to him, “a 35 passengers boat was brought to Borgu stationed at Musawa village for usage, urging them to make use of it judiciously while he advised residents to avoid using old canoes for waterways transportation, overloading and obey waterways regulations to avoid mishaps”.
In a remark, the Emir of Borgu Barrister Haliru Jikantoro Kitoro II thanked the management of N- HYPPADEC for its foresight and interventions in the plight of his people while urging youths to desist from unnecessary social media propaganda that is detrimental to the area especially on the current security challenges in the Emirate.
