Incessant grid collapse cause by lack of probity, investment – Senator Maidoki
    By Aideloje Ojo, Minna
The Senator representing Kebbi South senatorial district, Mohamed Abubakar Maidoki, has blamed the frequent collapse of national grid on lack of probity and investment in the power sector.
Senator Maidoki, who also the chairman, Senate Committee on Compliance, stated this while fielding questions from journalists in Minna, Niger state.
“Nobody has followed up to probe into how whatever money that has been allocated to the sector has been spent in the past years”, he said.
He, however, explained that the Senate has began oversight inspection of all facilities in the generation and distribution sectors for proper budgetary provisions in the 2025 fiscal year.
On the issue of the prevailing security challenges facing the country, Senator Maidoki called on government to pool more resources towards fighting insurgency and banditry in the country.
According to him, the neglect of the poor and their children has been the main factor responsible for the security challenges.
Speaking about his membership of the Government Secondary School Rijau Students Association (RIJOSA), Senator Maidoki expressed disappointment that the system put in place in those days which enabled vulnerable children to access education has collapsed.
“Now the children of the poor cannot afford education because the system that assisted us has collapsed,” he said.
