    Suleja unrest:  Police arrest 11suspects, restores peace

    Eleven suspects have been arrested for thuggery and breach of public peace in Chaichainiya, Kaduna road in Suleja area of Niger state.
    Restive youths were said to have engaged in war that emanated from an issue of lovers using dangerous weapons during which gun shot sounds were heard.
    The police confirmed the incident on Sunday in a statement issued in Minna by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun.
    He said, “On 6/3/2025 at about 11pm, reports were received that youths and some secondary school students were fighting at Chaichainiya area of Kaduna road over issues of lovers led by one Umar Idris of same area”.
    According to the PPRO, “it was reported that during the incident, gunshots were heard from different directions which hit two victims on their laps; one Nura and Imrana, both 10 and 11yrs respectively”.
    He explained that  during the Police covert operation, eleven suspects including the said Umar Idris were arrested and under police investigation.
    He said that preliminary investigation revealed that a personnel of a sister’s security agency was responsible for the shooting that led to the gunshot injuries of the two victims adding that investigation is being intensified for further necessary action
