    Police arrest 61 thugs, robbery suspects in Niger

    The police in Niger state have arrested 61 criminal suspects and miscreants following sting operations in different locations in Minna metropolis.
    The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state police command ,SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed this at the weekend in Minna.
    He said, “On 4th April, 2025 at about 2am, sting operations led by Area Commander Minna within Angwan-Daji and its environs, nineteen suspects were arrested. Earlier on 3rd April, 2025 at about 2.30am, twenty-three suspects were arrested at a hotel within Tunga with shisha smoking apparatus and other illicit drugs and cannabis, while thirteen others were arrested within the community with dangerous weapons”.
    According to the PPRO, on 5/4/2025 at about 11.30pm, the police recieved information from Barkin-Sale area of Minna that some miscreants were fomenting trouble, adding that “operation flush moved in immediately, six miscreants were arrestedwith a cutlass and a   sharp knife. They will be moved to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution”
    SP Abiodun explained that the sting operations following the recent resurgence of thuggery and youth restiveness in Minna metropolis immediately after the Sallah celebration, adding that the Police Command re-strategize and carried out sting operations in some locations in the metropolis.
    He explained that all suspects are under investigation in SCID Minna, adding that, ” however, monitoring and raid of criminal hideout continues, while normalcy has been restored in the metropolis”.
