Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger state has expressed hope and excitement over the prospects of hosting the 2028 National Sports Festival slated for December 28, 2028.
The Governor spoke at the State Executive Council meeting on Monday while receiving the document bid for the 24th edition of the National Sports Festival at Government House Minna presented by the state Commissioner for Sports, Yahaya Ibrahim Gulbin Boka.
The Governor said, “I am filled with enthusiasm and excitement over this development. The state is committed towards hosting this national event and I want to assure Nigerians and the sporting world that it would be memorable “.
Bago said that he is impressed and encouraged by the report by his commissioner for Sports that the Niger State’s bidding was adjudged to be the best among other bidding states.
Governor Bago was equally presented with samples of track suits for Niger State contingents for his approval for the games slated to begin on the 28th of December, 2028.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Primary Health, Dr. Ibrahim Dangana decorated the Governor as a Vaccine Ambassador by the Rotary Club International and the Forum of Spouses of Nigerian Governors.
In the same vain, Commissioner for Homeland Security, Abdullahi Garba Muhammad also presented the Governor with the OAN Nigerian leadership award as Icon of Societal Transformation conferred on him by the Centre for Patriotism and Value Re-orientation, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Governor was also recognized with an Award of Excellence by the Progressives Governors’ Forum presented to him by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Binta Mamman.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Musa Bawa also presented a plague to Governor Umaru Bago from Agro-Best reality TV show and informed the Governor about the show to be hosted in Niger State where agric-entrepreneurs from the 36 States of the federation and the FCT are expected to participate for 60 days.
