    Niger Judiciary employs 100 workers, disengages 4  for failing promotion exams

    Institute disciplinary action against a staff

    The Niger State Judiciary has employed 100 judicial staff including 10 Magistrates.
    The Chairman, sub Committee on Information of the Niger State Judicial Service Commission (NJSC) Rt Honourable Adamu Usman stated this in a press briefing in Minna on Wednesday.
    He said, ” The Commission considered and adopted minutes of meetings of 150th, 151st and 152nd , all arising from the recruitment of 100 staff as approved by  Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for the Commission”.
    According to him, ” The recruitment was done in the following cadre: 10 Magistrates, 10 Sharia court judges, 30 legal research assistants, 20 programme analysts, 15 Interpreters and 15 executive officers ( General Duties)”, adding that the exercise was hitch free and transparently carried out.
    He said that four staff comprising of three from the High Court and one from the Shania Court of Appeal have been directed to disengage from service having failed promotion examinations three times on same position, adding that, ” the commission resolved and advised them to leave the service in accordance with order 8 rule (4) (f) of the commission’s regulation 2025″.
    He said that the NJSC has also constituted a committee to investigate allegations of serious misconduct against one Mohammed Shaba for circulation of disparaging vedio clip in social media against the Chief Judge of Niger State  and the entire Judiciary.
    According to him, the matter was reported by the Chief Registrar of the Shania Court of Appeal, adding that, ” the commission deliberated on the report and constituted a four- man sub committee in accordance with order 6(1)(c) of the commission’s regulation 2025 to conduct further investigation on the matter “. This he explained is necessary to give the affected judicial staff fair hearing on the matter.
    He said that the commission approved the issuance of retirement notification to four staff from High Court and six from Sharia Court of Appeal and confirmed issuance of death certificate in respect of two deceased staff from high court and Sharia court of Appeal respectively.
