    By Abubakar Ojima-ojo Yunus

The Ankpa Local Government Supervisory Councillor for Works, Housing and Land Survey, Sumaila Mohammed Atta Enjema, has donated N3 million for the construction of the Jama’atu Izalatu Bid’a Wa Iqamatus Sunnah Central Mosque in Ajobe, Kogi State.

Enjema, who is popularly known as Echoga, said the donation was in fulfilment of a pledge he made to the late Muhammad Kabiru Salifu, fondly called Kesman.

In a statement issued on Monday, the councillor explained that the commitment was a personal promise made during Kabiru’s lifetime, which he resolved to honour despite the latter’s death.

“This was a promise I made to Kabiru, and I believe it must be fulfilled.

“In our discussions, he consistently spoke about the need to complete the Izala Central Mosque in Ajobe, and I always assured him that, by the grace of Allah, we would do it.”

Kabiru died earlier this month after sustaining injuries, a development that Enjema said had deeply affected the Ankpa community and beyond.

He described the late Kabiru as a peaceful and compassionate man who lived without malice.

“Today, Kabiru is no longer with us, but those of us who are alive must fulfil his wish.

“We believe that Allah, in His infinite mercy, will return the reward of this good deed to him in his grave.”

The councillor noted that his decision to proceed with the donation was driven by both personal affection and his conviction about the spiritual value of charitable giving.

“I loved Kabiru dearly, and beyond that, contributing to the work of Almighty Allah is a way of securing paradise for oneself,” Enjema stated.

He added that service to God should not be limited by place of origin or personal interest.

“You do not have to come from Ajobe before you contribute to the work of Allah. This is the best investment we can make for ourselves, both in this life and after our death,” he said.

Enjema also prayed for the repose of Kabiru’s soul and for comfort for his family.

Recalling how the pledge was made, he said Kabiru and his brothers visited him in Enjema on September 13, 2025, when the commitment to support the mosque project was reached.

“Each time we spoke after that visit, Kabiru would remind me of the pledge. He would say, ‘My boss, do not forget the Izala Central Mosque in Ajobe. That is my personal project,’” he added.
