President Bola Tinubu has implored young Nigerians to stay back home and contribute to the rebuilding of their nation.

“Nigeria is your home and your future. Build here, code here, work here, and vote here,” Tinubu said in his Democracy Day address on June 12, 2026.

The president framed the message as a patriotic call and a practical roadmap for Nigeria’s burgeoning, tech-savvy youthful population.

“Every great nation was built by those who stayed to solve problems, not by those who abandoned ship,” he added.

Tinubu acknowledged the imperfections in Nigeria’s democracy but noted its resilience through peaceful power transitions and institutional dispute resolution.

He said his administration is committed to transforming the country and leading Nigeria to prosperity.

“Every generation has a defining responsibility. The generation of our founding fathers secured independence—the generation of June 12 secured democracy. Our generation must secure prosperity,” he said.

“Let us move forward together—rejecting division, cynicism, and despair; embracing unity, hope, and confidence.

“Let us build a Nigeria united by a common purpose, strengthened by diversity, where justice is accessible, liberty is secure, and opportunity is abundant.”

Tinubu stated that Nigeria’s diversity now strengthens its democracy, and urged citizens to reject division as the country charts better political and economic pathways on his watch.
