The Dangote foundation has commenced the distribution of 30,000 bags of rice to the vulnerable and poor people in Niger state as part efforts to alleviate the prevailing suffering and hunger in the country.
The Group Manager of Dangote Industries, Alhaji Hashim Ahmed stated this on Saturday during the flag off of the distribution of rice in Minna.
He explained that Niger state got the 30000 allocation of 10kg rice out of the 1,000,000 bags the foundation had earmarked for distribution to all the local government areas across the country.
According to him, ” the gesture is aimed at assisting the poor and vulnerable people in our communities during this period in which many people are facing hardship and hunger “.
He explained that the Dangote foundation has been reaching out to the less privileged people in other critical areas including health sector, education and natural disasters.
Ahmed explained that although the foundation has been distributing food items to alleviate hunger in the past years, it however decided to use government channels this year for wider outreach, adding that it has no political consideration is attached to it.
In a remark,  the state Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba commended the foundation for the kind intervention and assured that the food item will get to the direct beneficiaries.
He appeal to other individuals and companies to emulate Dangote Industries in providing required interventions to alleviate the current hardships in the state and the country in general.
