    7 die in tanker explosion in Niger

    Tanker explosion has claimed seven lives in Niger state barely two months after a similar incident killed hundred in another part of the state.
    The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency ( NSEMA) AbdullahiBaba Arah stated this on Friday in a statement issued in Minna.
    He said,  “Nsema is in receipt of a tanker explosion that occurred in Karamin Rami village of Mashegu local government area”, adding that the incident occurred on Tuesday, 4th of March 2025, around 6:30pm.
    He said, ”  as at the time of filing this report, seven (7) lives were lost with one person injured. The tanker truck was trying to manoeuvre its way due to bad roads without shoulder. It  fell and it content(PMS) flew to a near by stream where dry season farmers were working on their rice   feld.
    He explained that the tanker content came in contact with the farmers’ water pump that was pumping water and cut fire which went back to the tanker, and caused the explosion.
     He said, “The inferno came back to the farm land through the already conterminated stream water and burnt some of the farmers and the whole rice field, including fruits vegetations.
    He listed the deceased farmers to include Rafiatu sahabi, Ramlat shehu, Rashida Abdullahi
    Raliya, Abdulrahaman, Zainab Ahmed, Zuwaira idrisu, Maryam A Nura, while Maimuna Isah survived with injuries.
    He explained that the injured woman has been receiving treatment at Saho Rami Primary Health Care.
