    Niger probes Council Chairman over alleged misconduct by councillors

    The Niger State government has constituted an investigative panel headed by Justice Abdullahi Mikailu to look into allegations of misconduct against Alhaji Aminu Ladan , the Chairman of Chanchaga local to area levelled by his councillors.
    The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Abubakar Usman stated this in a statement issued in Minna on Monday.
    He listed the terms of reference of the panel to include, ” to investigate allegations leveled against the suspended Chairman of Chanchaga local government as contained in the letter/resolution dated 1st June 2025 by majority of the councillors and made available / recommended to the Governor and local government legislative Council “.
    The panel was also mandated to procure all such evidence and examine all such persons as witnesses as the Committee may think it necessary or desirable to procure or examine.
    According to the SSG, the panel is empowered to require the evidence of witnesses whether written or oral or declaration to be made on oath.
    The Committee has Barrister Bala Marka, and Alhaji Abubakar Salihu as members while Barrister Ibrahim Mohammed Babangida was appointed Secretary.
