    Prof Ize-Iyamu elected president orthodontic association

    The Chief Medical Director (CMD), University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) Prof. (Mrs) Idia Ize-Iyamu, has emerged the 10th national president of the Nigerian Association of Orthodontists (NAO).

    In her acceptance speech, she said as president, she is committed to building on the association’s legacy, fostering innovation, and exploring new frontiers in orthodontics.

    “Our association has a rich history of promoting excellence in orthodontic care, education, and research. As president, I commit to building on this legacy, fostering innovation, and exploring new frontiers in orthodontics. We will prioritize initiatives that enhance our members’ skills, promote best practices, and improve patient care,” she said.

    She pledged to work tirelessly with her executive to harness the collective goal of NAO and promote the interests of members, as well as advance the field of orthodontics in Nigeria.

    “I recognize the challenges we face as a profession, from addressing the shortage of orthodontic services in underserved areas, especially as we are few, 74 members in Nigeria to serve a population of over 237.5 million, staying abreast of rapid technological advancements,” she noted.

    According to her, She would be guided by a commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and accountability.

    The immediate past president of the association Dr. Olayinka Adeyinka on her part, expressed optimism that her successor, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu will take the association to greater heights.

    Dignitaries present at the investiture/ handover ceremony include Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, husband of the NAO president, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Deputy governor of Edo state, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, former Deputy Governor Edo State, Dr. Pius Odubu, DCMAC, UBTH, Dr. Fidelis Eki-Udoko, Acting Director of Administration UBTH, Mrs. Joy Oyakhilome, Public Relations Officer UBTH, Barr. Joshua Uwaila, among others
