Chairman, Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NGSIRS), Mr. Mohammed Etsu, was conferred with an Award of Service at the Gala Night of the just concluded 159th Meeting of the Joint Revenue Board (JRB), hosted by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) from the 20th to 22nd April 2026

The meeting brought together the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) and the chairmen of all 36 States’ Revenue Services to advance the implementation of Nigeria’s ongoing tax reforms.

The Award of Service presented to Mr. Etsu recognised the NGSIRS’s proactive leadership in aligning with national tax policy, championing the Model Taxes & Levies (Approved List for Collection) Law 2026, and driving initiatives that promote ease of doing business while growing Internally Generated Revenue responsibly.

In a remark after receiving the award, Mr. Etsu, said: “This honour belongs to His Excellency, the Governor of Niger State, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, the dedicated staff of NGSIRS, and the taxpayers of Niger State. It strengthens our resolve to implement ‘One State, One List, One Payment Channel.’ Every legitimate kobo collected must build schools, hospitals, and roads — and no citizen should be harassed by illegal collectors. We will continue to lead with integrity, transparency, and service.”

In line with the 3-point JRB resolutions reached at the 159th meeting of the Board, Mr. Etsu assured that the NGSIRS would “intensify statewide sensitization on the Approved List for Collection to ensure taxpayers know what to pay and who to pay to; accelerate full automation of collections across Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and all 25 Local Government Areas; and deploy Joint Monitoring Teams with relevant, security agencies to enforce compliance and protect citizens from extortion.”
