Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has resolved the political disagreement between Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, representing the Niger East senatorial district, and former Director General of the National Biosafety Management Agency, Bello Bawa Bwari, who were both aspirants for the Senate under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The bid to unseat Sani Musa who is also the Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation, at the Niger East APC primaries by Bawa Bwari had caused boiling tensions in the Senatorial District with the two contenders pooling significant crowd of supporters.

It was learnt that while supporters of Bawa Bwari insisted on rotation of the seat to Suleja axis of the Senitorial District after eight years of Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, constituents insisted on his return in recognition of numerous constituency projects executed and to complete many others that are ongoing.

However on Sunday night, the Governor, alongside some critical political leaders including his deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba, the APC National Vice Chairman North Central Zone Alh. Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, and the APC state Chairman Alh. Aminu Musa Bobi, held a mediation meeting with the duo to resolve disagreements to move forward.

The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Bologi Ibrahim confirmed in a statement that the strategic meeting took place at the official residence of the Governor Bago at Government House, in Minna.

He said, “During the meeting chaired by the Farmer Governor, a common ground was reached, laying to rest all issues regarding the APC flag bearer for the 2027 general elections and making the incumbent a consensus candidate of the party for the Niger East senatorial district”.

He explained that the move by the farmer governor was to ensure peace, political stability, and deepened internal democracy in the APC.

“The development also reflects the farmer governor’s firm commitment to democratic principles and dialogue in resolving differences amicably.
The amicable resolution of the the political disagreement would no doubt lead to the success of the party in the general elections in 2027”, he said.
