A church security man identified as Godwin Dauda has raped to death 11 years old girl, miss Christabel Albert in Suleja area of Niger state.
The deceased girl was said to have been lured to the church security post by Dauda while attending a birthday celebration of a relative on September 19, 2026.
Dauda was said to have fled to Kuje area of FCT after committing to heinous crime and dropping the body into a well within the church to escape arrest. However, he was arrested by the police on 23rd September 2026 following investigations into the murder.
The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO of the Niger state police command, SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident in Minna on Friday.
He said, “On 20th September 2026 at about 12.30pm, a report of a missing person was made at A Div Suleja from behind photo palace Suleja, that one Christabel Albert 11yrs was missing after she left home on 19th September 2026 to attend a birthday ceremony of a relative within the area, and she was yet to return home”.
He explained that later in the evening, a pastor from the Apostolic Church Suleja rushed to the Police station and reported that a dead body was found in a Well within the church premises, adding that police moved to the scene and with the help of LGA welfare staff, the corpse was removed and taken to general hospital Suleja, where the corpse was later identified to be the missing girl.
“In the course of investigation, it was suspected that the security man, one Godwin Dauda 26yrs attached to the church has a connection with the crime, because he fled from the premises. The suspect was later arrested on 23rd September 2026 at about 8pm around Kuje area of FCT where he ran to hide”, he said.
According to SP Abiodun, during interrogation, Godwin Dauda confessed that he lured the girl to his security room in the church on 19th September 2026, and raped her to death, adding that, “he added that in his effort to conceal the crime, he dropped the corpse in the well and ran away”
The PPRO said preliminary investigation is in progress and the suspect will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for diligent prosecution.
