    3 die in Minna miscreants protests

    Three person have reportedly been killed in Minna following violent protests by miscreants in Kpagungu area of the city.

     

    It was learnt the miscreants took to the streets on Sunday in protest of the killing of one of them identified as Aliyu by vigilante men trying to effect arrest in Kpagungu area of Minna on Saturday 3, October 2026

     

    The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Niger state police command, SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident on Sunday.

     

    He said, “On 3rd October 2026 at about 10.30pm, a report received indicated that a group of vigilante men mobilised to Kpakungu area to arrest some miscreants and in the process, one of the vigilant members shot one Aliyu dead, which led to some protest within the area”.

     

    He said that police patrol teams were mobilised to the location and normalcy was restored, while effort to arrest the vigilante man is ongoing.

     

    According to the PPRO, some of the miscreants again regrouped at the early hours of the following day, being 4th October 2026, and blocked Bida-Minna road in the name of protest.

     

    He said, ” they also moved to Gbeganu area and attacked residents in the area. In the course of the attack, it was reported that two persons lost their lives”.

     

    1. SP Abiodun said that police tactical teams were drafted to the area, adding that, “the rioters were dispersed and the road was cleared for free flow of traffic”.
