A media aide to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has urged President Bola Tinubu to reconsider his 2027 re-election bid following a viral video showing the President appearing to stumble after a campaign rally in Akwa Ibom State.
Ibe, in a post on X, questioned whether Tinubu could withstand the demands of another presidential campaign and a second four-year term.
The video, which has circulated widely on social media, captured the President appearing to lose his balance while walking towards his convoy after the rally.
The footage has triggered reactions online, with some Nigerians raising questions about the President’s physical condition.
Reacting to the development, Ibe called on the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu, to advise him to withdraw from the 2027 presidential contest.
He said the President’s latest public appearance had raised questions that the ruling All Progressives Congress could no longer ignore.
Ibe wrote, “Tinubu’s latest campaign appearance raises a question the APC can no longer brush aside. Is he up to the demands of another presidential campaign and a second term?
“Aunty Remi and Seyi, you are among those closest to him. Give him the honest counsel his party seems unwilling to offer. Urge him to step out of the race with dignity.”
However, the video and the reactions it has generated do not, on their own, establish any medical condition or provide evidence of the President’s ability to discharge his constitutional responsibilities.
