Terrorists have again abducted 47 women from communities in Mariga local government of Niger state including pregnant women.
The terrorists have been reported to had demanded for N100m ransom
The Chairman of Mariga local government area of Niger state , Hon Mohammed Aliyu confirmed this in an interview with journalists.
He said, “majority of the 47 farmers abducted by Bandits were women including pregnant ones . Mariga local government is under siege as we come under constant bandits attacks. The latest abduction on Sunday was targeted at farmers who were in the farm harvesting ground nut and other produce”.
He explained that the women were in the farms to harvest their crops when the terrorists attacked and took them away
He said , ” From the report I received indicated that among the women abducted were pregnant women and one of the women gave birth in bandits captivity due to the pressure”.
He explained that some of the villages attacked by the terrorists have been completely abandoned by the people for safety, adding that the military and local Vigilantes are on the trail of the bandits and that in the process some of the Vigilantes sustain injury.
Hon Aliyu said ” the farms are located in Tunga Rimi via Kasuwa Garba and the village was long time ago , not that they attacked the village, they attacked those who were farming near the village”
However, he Police Public Relations Officer PPRO of the Niger state Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun the incident, insisting that police record showed that only 20 of the farmers were abducted.
