The KMT Movement, the umbrella body of various support groups for Barr. Kashim Musa Tumsah in Yobe State, has resolved to remain in the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was reached at a strategic meeting of the movement held in Kaduna, to review its political journey and chart the way forward.
In a press statement issued after the meeting and signed by the Spokesman of the Campaign Organisation, Abubakar Ahmed, the movement said its commitment to the success and re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON remains paramount and unshaken.
According to the statement, “Members of the KMT Movement, representing the various KMT support groups in Yobe State have reviewed the ongoing political journey and plans for the forthcoming elections in the best interest of the movement and Yobe State.”
The statement added that the movement resolved to explore various options, opportunities and forms of cooperation in the political space while remaining in the APC.
On the forthcoming Yobe State governorship election, the movement disclosed that heads of its various groups, organizations and sections across all political parties will hold further consultations with their members and report back to the KMT Movement Secretariat within the next seven days.
The movement further stated that it will await the outcome of the various court cases challenging the botched May 2026 APC gubernatorial primaries in Yobe State.
It stressed that the interest of Yobe State, its supporters and citizens will remain the main factor in deciding its next line of action regarding the governorship election.
The meeting was attended by leaders of the various support groups representing Barr. Kashim Musa Tumsah, who was described as the most popular governorship aspirant in the botched May 2026 primary election in the state.
The group leaders have been mandated to return to their bases and enlighten their members on the resolutions reached.
