    Taraba Gov’s sister dies after police accidental discharge

    Taraba Gov’s sister dies after police accidental discharge

    Atsi Kefas, younger sister of Gov. Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, who sustained bullet wounds from an accidental discharge by a police escort has died.

    The vehicle in which Atsi was traveling in the company of their mother, Mrs. Jummai Kefas, came under attack from gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, on their way to Abuja on December 5, along Wukari-Kente road under the Wukari Council Area of the state.

    It was gathered that the police escort in a rapid move to repel the attackers, accidentally hit at the governor’s sister.

    Although there was no official statement announcing the death of Aksi, a family source disclosed to our correspondent in Jalingo on Tuesday that the 45 -year-old lady, died in a private hospital in Abuja in the early hours of Tuesday while receiving treatment.

    Our Correspondent reports that unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers had on Thursday December 5, attacked a vehicle in which Jummai Kefas, the mother of Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, was travelling.

    Investigations revealed that suspected kidnappers had targeted Governor Kefas’ mother for kidnap when they attacked the convoy.

    Atsi was intially rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari where her condition was stabilized before she was flown to Abuja for further treatment.

    The family sources further revealed that Doctors have been battling to save Atsi’s live in a private hospital in Abuja since Thursday last week before she finally died in the early hours of tuesday December 10.

    As at press time there has not been any official statement from the state government concerning the death of the governor’s younger sister.
