    2027: KMT supporters strategise ahead of Yobe governorship race

    Ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Yobe State, supporters of Kashim Musa Tumsah, within and outside Yobe State have continued to intensify pressure on him to declare interest to vie for the most coveted seat.

    Tumsah who holds the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic title, is an Oil and Gas lawyer and diplomat of many years standing.

    Our correspondent reports that a congregation of over 50 support groups met in Kano to develop a blueprint and pathway towards convincing him to join the governorship race.

    Spokesman for the Kano meeting, Abubakar Ahmed told journalists that the meeting which was a huge success, also had in attendance seasoned politicians of Yobe extraction from across the country and abroad, strategizing on how to draft him into the contest and mobilise support for his candidature.

    “Some of the seasoned politicians came from far and near including outside Nigeria to join the meeting saying it is time the political narrative of Yobe takes a new dimension that will be all inclusive, people-driven and with youth and women deeply involved in building and taking the state to greater height.

    “The massive interest in KMT to lead the state come 2027 stems from his immense contribution to the upliftment of the standard of living of the people of the state especially rural dwellers even though he has not held any elective position.

    “Many people felt the state needs someone of KMT standing to consolidate on the achievements so far recoreded by the incumbent, Governor Mai Mala Buni, and that is why you see people from diverse backgrounds congregating to strategise for his emergence,” he explained.

    He said at the end of the meeting, participants agreed to set up a committee involving all categories of persons from all walks of life to look at and review the calls for KMT to venture into the governorship race in 2027.

    He noted that the committee which is headed by a one time governorship aspirant in the state, Hon. Hassan Kafayos, is also to streamline all the support groups, meet with elders and other stakeholders for further discussions, meet KMT to ask him to join the race and report back to the house within two weeks.

    “The team which strongly believes in KMT accepting the calls, is also asked to develop political strategies and other engagement initiatives but without jeopardising any INEC and other extant national rules bearing in mind that political activities have not officially kicked off,” he stated.
