Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Iman Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has called on women to take advantage of the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) e-registration exercise to enhance their participation in politics.
Speaking with journalists after monitoring the e-registration exercise in Lafia and Keffi Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State, the minister noted that the initiative will avail women the opportunity to relaunch themselves into the mainstream politics in the state and country.
The minister who commended the women and youths for turning out enmas for the exercise, assured that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration is determined to ensure that women are not relegated to the politics of the country.
The minister said women were instrumental to the emergence of the APC administration at the national level, while urging them not only to register but vie for more elective positions in 2027.
Our correspondent reports that the minister donated 15 laptops to APC for the ongoing e- Registration exercise in Lafia, and an additional 10 for the exercise in Keffi respectfully.
Donating the items to the State Chairman of the party in Lafia, the minister said the gesture is aimed at enhancing the ongoing e-registration and strengthen party members mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She expressed confidence that Nasarawa state will be among the top performers in the registration exercise.
” If we are not the first, we will be the second. If we are not the second, we will be the first,” she stated.
The minister commended the Nasarawa state APC chairman Dr. Aliyu Bello and governor Abdullahi Sule for their efforts, and encouraged registrants to bring in more people. ” Each one registrant should bring one. As you are registered, ask them to go and bring one more person,” she said.
Responding, APC state chairman, Dr. Aliyu Bello, described the minister’s initiative as inspiring, saying it demonstrates the party’s commitment to grassroots inclusivity and efforts to expand its membership base.
“If all the stakeholders would just stick to their local government, I think the progress will be smooth and successful.
” Our Honorable minister, we are proud of you, and we say it loud, the leader of the party to get us loud and clear, that we have no better choice now and forever than you because we have seen what she has done and she will continue to do it,” he noted.
