The All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago in Niger state lacks coordination while it is also insensitive to the terrible poverty and insecurity afflicting the people of the state since the beginning of the tenure.

The National Treasurer of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad stated this at the inauguration of the Niger state Leadership Coordinating Team of the party at its state secretariat in Minna.

He said, “the people of Niger state are highly disappointed with the APC led administration in the state. This is not what they bargained for in the 2023 elections. The government in Niger state has fallen below expectations of the people. Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has squandered the goodwill of the electorate due to incompetence, inconsistency and insensitivity to the acute poverty, insecurity, hopelessness, untold hardship ravaging the people”.

He said that ADC is ready to provide alternative and flush out the APC administration in the 2027 general elections, adding that, “we are confident that the administration of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago will meet its day of reckoning at the polls in 2027. The poverty and hardship faced by the people have prominently remained the yardstick to measure the current administration in Niger state. It is unfortunate that what we are seeing so far is a far cry from the expectation of the people”.

The ADC chieftain said that the party has become a formidable force in Niger state considering its acceptability among the electorates adding that the people are swooping to the party in their millions to register as members, adding that, ” today we have also inaugurated the ADC Registration Committee in Niger State. ADC holds a lot of promise and the people are eager to register. The numbers we are seeing are quite encouraging. We’re happy about the way people are accepting the party as we continue to mobilize massively for the registration and revalidation of ADC membership in the state”.

He said that the ADC is not worried by the defection of some Governors to the APC, adding that the ruling part has been putting all tricks and dubious tactics trying to win elections, adding that, “they are desperate, even though they have almost all the governors in APC? They are desperate because they know that it was only the governors that moved and the people did not move with the governors”

“The people of this country are not stupid. They know why the governors are moving. We know very well that a lot of them are either intimidated or induced to move and they are moving alone. They are not moving with their people”.
