Newgate University Minna has commenced 14 postgraduate, Masters and Doctorate degree programmes following approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sadiq Yusuf made this known in a press briefing in Minna on Tuesday.
He explained that the NUC accreditation after the conduct of its resource verification exercise, adding that, “all necessary structures and academic requirements are ready towards the admission of first cohort of postgraduate students expected to begin in May 2026”.
According to him, “the NUC approval covered a broad spectrum of programmes which include Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s degrees, Professional Master’s programmes, and Doctoral degrees across several strategic disciplines”, assuring that highest academic standards and excellence will be maintained.
Professor Yusuf explained that the university management has structured the Postgraduate School to deliver research excellence, professional relevance, and Innovation-driven academic leadership, adding that, ” the programmes will strengthen research capacity, train high level professionals and scholars, that would contribute meaningfully to national development”.
According to him, the university is now running 14 postgraduate and 16 undergraduate programmes with a student population of 2,018.
He listed the approved PGD programmes to include Management, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science and Public Health while MSc in Computing, Accounting, Public Health, International Relations.
