Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, says his administration will continue to invest in sports as a tool for youth development, unity, and economic growth.
The governor stated this during the unveiling of the 2025 Nasarawa Governor’s Cup in Lafia.
The Governor’s Cup is a yearly football tournament held across the 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State to identify and nurture talents from the grassroots.
Governor Sule commended the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Football Association, Salisu Galadima, for sustaining the spirit of the competition and promoting grassroots football development.
He also praised local government chairmen and other stakeholders for their active participation, describing sports as not just recreation but a business capable of transforming lives when taken seriously.
The governor congratulated Nasarawa United Football Club for maintaining the top spot in the ongoing league with 19 points, and the Nasarawa Amazons for winning the Bayelsa tournament trophy. noting that the State is now represented across all football categories.
Chairman, Nasarawa State Football Association, Salisu Galadima, said the Governor’s Cup aims to unite communities and promote sportsmanship across the state.
Governor Sule further urged residents and sports enthusiasts to continue sustaining peace and unity in Nasarawa, stressing that the progress recorded so far is a reflection of teamwork and collective commitment to the state’s growth.
