The KMT Movement has denied reaching any arrangement with any individual or group in Yobe State over the gubernatorial campaigns following the publication of the All Progressives Congress, (APC,)list in the state.
The Movement said its position has been misrepresented, leading to false narratives in the public space.
In a statement issued on Saturday,, and signed by its spokesperson, Abubakar Ahmed, the Movement stated that neither its Principal, KMT, nor the Movement itself has entered into any agreement regarding the forthcoming gubernatorial campaigns.
The statement reaffirmed that KMT and the KMT Movement remain bonafide members of the APC and are committed to working for the success of the party, particularly in the presidential election.
On the governorship election in Yobe, the Movement said it has not taken a definite position and is still awaiting the outcome of the court process.
“Neither KMT nor the KMT Movement has reached any arrangement or agreement with anyone in Yobe State regarding the Gubernatorial campaigns. We have consistently maintained our position that we remain in the APC and will work for the success of the APC, especially in the Presidential elections. As for the Gubernatorial elections, we are still awaiting the outcome of the court process before taking a definite position,” the statement reads.
Ahmed therefore appealed to all structures and supporters of the Movement across Yobe State and beyond to remain calm and await further directives from the KMT Movement Secretariat.
He also urged the general public to disregard any comments or statements not emanating from the official Secretariat of the Movement.
