The National Examinations Council (NECO) has donated a newly constructed palace to the traditional ruler of Gida Magoro village, in recognition of the peaceful coexistence between it and the host community over the years.

Commissioning the palace on Thursday, the Registrar of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi explained that the project is part of other corporate social responsibilities to host communities executed by the council.

He said, “as hosts of the Headquarters of the council, the Gida Magoro community has continued to demonstrate a spirit of hospitality, understanding and peace. This is a clear demonstration of the peaceful nature of the community and the maturity of its leadership. Over the years, this has translated into a relationship that is both productive and cordial – one that has enabled NECO to operate effectively, attract staff and visitors and sustain its activities without unnecessary disruption”.

He explained that the commissioning of the palace symbolises unity, cultural heritage and the enduring role of traditional institutions in strengthening social cohesion, adding that by supporting the construction of the palace NECO has affirmed that tradition matters and development must respect cultural foundations.

The village head of Gida Magoro Mallam Sani Zagi conferred the traditional title of Maji Dadin of Gida Magoro on the NECO registrar while the turbaning formalities were performed immediately after the commissioning of the new palace.

The royal father commended the Management of NECO for the execution of people oriented projects for host communities, adding that, “we however appeal for more employment opportunities for our youths most of whom are graduates “.

He assured that his community will continue to provide the hospitality and peaceful environment needed for the success of the Council
