The high profile of projects executed by the administration of farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger state will speak for him in the campaign for second term in 2027 .
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communications, Honourable Jonathan Vatsa stated this in a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger State Council, Comrade Abu Nmodu in Minna.
According to him, “Honestly I must point out the fact that since the creation of Niger State, there has not been any Governor that has the political will to develop the state as Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago. As can be seen, infrastructural projects are ongoing across the state. The Governor has changed the face of Niger and Minna in particular. Let me also tell you that people are happy with the Governor. In many places where we have gone, the people tell Governor Bago that there is no need to campaign or print campaign posters in 2027 because his projects in their communities speak volumes “.
Vatsa, also a former commissioner of Information and Strategy in the state, said that the administration would partner with the media practitioners for the development of the state, adding that, ” we need the media more than they need us. I therefore solicit for the support of Journalists to work together as partners in the reportage of government programmes and policies “.
He expressed the determination of the administration to maintain and enhanced the cordial relationship between the Journalists in the state and the government, adding that, “the government appreciate your contributions and the value you are adding to the development of the state “.
Responding, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Niger State Council, Comrade Abu Nmodu said that the union is ready to partner with the government in all areas that would bring development to the state.
He urged the administration to be more friendly and accessible to Journalists which he explained, is essential in cultivating mutual working relationship and enhanced reporting of government programmes and activities
