Villagers have discovered three bomb explosives in Ganaru community in Zugurma district of Mashegu local government area in Niger state, a development that has caused panic among the people
It was gathered that the explosive devices were first seen by farmers who were going for their farming activities planted by the road side before they raised alarm on Monday.
Confirming the incident, the chairman of Mashegu local government, Jibrin Egade said that the area has been protected from the people to avoid explosion that can lead to casualties.
Hevsaid, “I am shocked over the discovery of such dangerous explosives in the community where there is no security challenge. This is a surprise to me and the people. I have informed the security agencies on the matter”
Also the Niger State Commissioner of police CP Adamu Elleman has confirmed the development, adding that, “the command has deployed bomb experts to the scene to ascertain and possibly detonate the explosive which he said is one not three as claimed by the villagers.
He urged the people to go about their legitimate businesses without fear of intimidation just as experts have been deployed to ensure the evacuation of the explosive device professionally.
