The National Examinations Council (NECO) has given special award to eight best performing students in the 2024 examinations at all levels.
The council also honoured the most hardworking and dedicated staff of the year 2024 at an elaborate productivity award ceremony held in Minna on Thursday.
For the best performing students from the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) Master Balogun Faria Ajibola ( male) and Miss Iyasei Ifeanyichukwu Victory got the special award while Master Udo Jacob Chimmeremeze Godslove Samuel from Diamond Special School Owerri and Miss Okpala Chukwugozirim Kamtochukwu from Primary School Nnewi got the award for the best in the National Gifted Examinations(NGE)
In the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Master Charles Bryan Uzoma from Igbinedion Education Centre Benin and Miss Awanbo Omoriyekwen Claire from the same school were named as the best performing award winners.
In the same vain, Master Nwachukwu Victor Ikechukwu and Miss Adeyemo Emmanuella Adedamola got the award for the best performing students in the Senior School Certificate Examination ( SSCE).
In a remark, the Registrar of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi explained that 2024 staff productivity award was aimed to honor the remarkable achievements of both staff and students, adding that, ” it underscore the commitment of the Council to fostering a culture of excellence and competition”.
“This ceremony is not merely about recognizing performance; it is about embedding a culture of discipline, continuous improvement, teamwork, and ethical service,” Professor Wishishi said.
According to him, celebrating exemplary individuals sends a strong message that, despite challenges, excellence is achievable and should be expected in all corners of the organization.
He encouraged students to view their achievements as a light for their peers, attributing success to hard work, supportive families, and dedicated educators.
