As the nation’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress APC prepares for its governorship primary election on Thursday, 21/5/2026, a leading aspirant in Yobe state, Kashim Musa Tumsah MFR aka KMT has embarked on sensitisation visits in the state to call for peaceful conduct of the exercise.

Tumsah has remained in the contest alongside three other aspirants insisting that direct primary mode should be adopted in the state so that a credible and widely accepted flag bearer can emerge.

The aspirant was in Nguru, Bade, Geidam, and Bursari local government areas where he assured APC supporters, critical stakeholders and other citizens of the state that he intends to remain in the race to its logical conclusion.

He maintained that his ambition cannot be thwarted by acts against the letter and spirit of the Electoral Act, APC Constitution and guidelines as well as the ongoing massive propaganda embarked upon by different sources who see him as a threat against a government imposed candidate in the state.

He cautioned that, even though those to be deployed from the national headquarters of the party to conduct the primaries in Yobe State are known to be very close associates and friends of Yobe State Government, he expects that the right thing would be done to ensure a transparent, free and fair process in line with the party’s guidelines on direct primaries.

He assured that he will accept the outcome only if the rules and guidelines are followed.

Tumsah, an Oil and Gas Lawyer and development advocate, urged his supporters and well wishers to remain calm and law abiding but resolute while disregarding any information suggesting his withdrawal from the governorship race in the state.
