    AKU matriculates 1426 students

    – 224 others benefit NELFUND facilities

    The Abdulkadir Kure University (AKU) Minna has matriculated 1426 students for the 2025/2026 academic session with a charge to shun social ills and study hard to secure brighter future for themselves.
     Addressing the new students on Thursday, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko explained that the welfare of students is paramount to the management of the institution adding that students are being trained on how to become self reliance and employers of labour after graduation.
    According to him, “224  students the Abdulkadir Kure University have been approved to benefit from NELFUND adding that,  “the fund has been made available to the institution”.
    The Vice Chancellor announced a compulsory medical and substance test for all new students in compliance with the directives of the Federal Ministry of Education.
    He said, ” those who are found sickness would be quarantined for treatment while those who are positive in substance test would be counselled to closely monitored for rehabilitation”.
    Professor Paiko explained that similar exercise was conducted last year during which less than one percent were affected and treated accordingly to be cured of their sicknesses.
    He expressed appreciation to the state Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago for his commitment towards the educational and infrastructural development of the institution within the 3 years of its establishment.
    He said, ” the university has grown from one faculty with 86 pioneer students to 806 last year and now 1426 this academic session spread across 6 academic faculties. This is possible only with the strong political goodwill of our Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago and we are very grateful for his kind gesture to uphold academic excellence for the University “.
