The Master coach Hub has called for the immediate curriculum reforms in the secondary, and university institutions as well as in the training given to caregivers, social workers and administrators of orphanages.
Convener/Training Consultant of the hub, Ustaz Yunus Salahudeen, who stated this during a comprehensive capacity training workshop in Abuja on Saturday, lamented that some courses and programmes have outlived their relevance in today’s fast changing world.
He wondered whether such outdated programmes are still preparing students, children and staff members for the future.
The consultant advised that education must evolve with reality.
“If we want to compete globally, innovate locally and empower the next generation to lead Nigeria, then it is urgent to forward curriculum reforms,” he stated.
He praised many faith-based organizations and NGOs running orphanages and social intervention schemes of doing excellent work with little resources and immense sacrifices, adding that to move survival to sustainability, in order to broaden their knowledge.
He enjoined them to build sustainable models that reduce dependence and creates impacts that lasts, understand linkages., with grants and donor agencies.as well as develop partnership, compliance and proposal skills that unlock fundings and technical supports.
Earlier in his speech, the acting Managing/CEO of Abuja Enterprise Agency (AEA), Dr. Chudi Ezingwe, disclosed that the agency recently launched the AEA Women in Business Forum as a strategic platform to empower women entrepreneurs through networking, mentorship, market access capacity development and investment opportunities.
He further revealed that the agency has also introduced the export desk office to provide guidance and established a one-stop-shop business support organization to simplifying business registration process.
Other achievements of the agency, according to the managing director, is it’s collaboration with the Bank of Industry to create funding and financing opportunities for MSMEs, enabling business scale, create jobs and contribute to economic development.
Also in her goodwill, Dr. Neemat Daud- Abdulrahim, commended Master Coach Hub for organizing the Stakeholders’ workshop and she called for more collaboration between private agencies, NGOs and International Development Partners, such as UK- DFiD, UNICEF, JAICA, and others.
