Driven by a shared passion for truth-telling and a commitment to holding those in power accountable, a group of seasoned journalists, came together to establish NEXTER, an investigative newspaper.

These journalists, united by a vision for a better future, believe that a free and independent press is essential to a healthy democracy, and that NEXTER can play a crucial role in shaping the narrative and promoting positive change.

We are motivated by a burning desire to
drop a pebble into the turbulent sea of investigative journalism, by providing in-depth, well-researched stories that expose corruption, abuse of power, and social injustices.

We are also driven by the desire to give a platform to those who have been silenced, ignored, or oppressed, and tell their stories with accuracy and empathy.
On the altar of objectivity and professionalism, we shall hold those in power accountable for their actions, and demand transparency in governance and decision-making processes.

    Why NEXTER?

To us NEXTER symbolizes the determination to uncover what’s hidden, to reveal what’s next, and to inform readers about the issues that matter most. It represents a new standard of investigative journalism, implying a commitment to in-depth reporting, rigorous research, and fearless storytelling.
NEXTER implies a forward-thinking approach, symbolizing the newspaper’s commitment to uncovering the truth and shedding light on the future.
The name also suggests that the newspaper is always on the lookout for the next big story, the next revelation, or the next exposé.
We represent a new era of transparency, accountability, and truth-telling, symbolizing the newspaper’s commitment to holding those in power accountable and giving voice to the voiceless.

    Our immediate constituency
NEXTER newspaper was birthed to be the voice of the Middle Belt region of Nigeria due to the need for a platform that amplifies the concerns, challenges, and stories of the region. Being a volatile region with a complex history of conflicts, communal clashes, and socio-economic challenges, the Middle Belt requires a dedicated media outlet that can provide in-depth coverage and analysis of the issues affecting the region.

As a voice for the region, NEXTER aims to provide a platform for marginalized voices by amplifying the stories and concerns of communities that have been historically neglected or overlooked.

The newspaper shall foster dialogue and understanding among different ethnic and religious groups in the region, while equally holding those in power accountable. In so doing, cases of corruption, abuse of power, and human rights violations in the region shall be professionally investigated.

But we shall not turn a blind eye to the region’s potentials. We will highlight its rich cultural heritage, economic potentials, and resilience in the face of adversity.

By fulfilling these objectives, NEXTER newspaper aims to be a catalyst for positive change in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria.

In the final analysis, NEXTER is committed to fearless and independent investigative journalism, driven by a passion for truth, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to make a meaningful impact on our society. We are dedicated to exposing the untold stories, revealing the hidden truths, and shedding light on the darkest corners of our society.

We aim to be a leading voice for transparency and accountability, creating a more just and equitable world by providing a platform for the voiceless, promoting critical thinking, and fostering a culture of transparency and accountability. We strive to be a beacon of hope for a better future, where citizens are informed, empowered, and inspired to demand accountability from those in power.
As you grab a copy of this maiden edition, we implore you to keep a date with us as one publication of NEXTER leads to the NEXT.
Last line: If you don’t want it reported in NEXTER, don’t let it happen because it shall be in our NEXT edition!
