Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Monday won the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Akwa Ibom north-west, recording victories across the 10 LGAs in the district.
The results showed that the senate president polled 11,895 votes in Abak, 12,877 in Essien Udim, 9,148 in Etim Ekpo, 9,325 in Ika, 10,153 in Ikono, 12,174 in Ikot Ekpene, 8,874 in Ini, 10,062 in Obot Akara, 19,586 in Oruk Anam, and 17,328 in Ukanafun.
The total number of registered voters stood at 122,140, while 121,425 voters were accredited and cast their votes in the exercise.
Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo, also secured the party’s ticket for Imo west after Williams Kayode, chairman and returning officer of the national assembly APC primary election committee in the state, declared him winner.
Kayode said Uzodimma secured 230,464 votes across the 12 LGAs in the Orlu zone, while Rochas Okorocha, former governor of Imo, polled 1,098 votes in the contest.
Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, former senate president, was also declared the consensus APC senatorial candidate for Yobe north.
In a statement, Lawan described his emergence as “not a personal victory but a victory for democracy, for unity of purpose, and for our collective commitment to the progress of Yobe north”.
He thanked the APC leadership, stakeholders in Yobe north, and Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe state, for supporting his candidacy.
Meanwhile, Erondu Erondu emerged as the winner of the APC primary election for the Abia south senatorial district.
Erondu secured 16,640 votes to defeat Nyerere Anyim, who polled 5,206 votes.
Paul Ikonne scored 4,099 votes, while Blessing Nwagba recorded 4,456 votes.
Emmanuel Agbaeze, the collation officer, announced the results on Monday at the APC Abia south senatorial district primary election collation centre in Aba.
According to the collated results, Erondu won in all six LGAs of Obingwa, Ugwunagbo, Aba north, Aba south, Ukwa west and Ukwa east.
He is expected to face Enyinnaya Abaribe of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2027 senatorial election.
