The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Katsina State, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita, has condemned the murder of Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yahaya Masussuka, describing it as further proof of government’s failure to protect lives and property.
Sheikh Masussuka was reportedly murdered by gunmen at his residence in Dutsin-Ma on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
In a condolence message issued on Wednesday by his campaign spokesman, Abubakar Ahmed, Senator Kaita commiserated with the family of the late cleric, his friends, associates and teeming followers over the loss.
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
Kaita said the brazen manner in which the religious scholar was killed in his own home has exposed the weakening fight against insecurity by the Katsina State Government in particular and the APC-led administration in general.
“Human life has become so cheap that anyone could come and take it with government doing little or nothing in meeting the basic constitutional requirement of protecting lives and property of its citizens,” the statement quoted Kaita as saying.
The ADC flag bearer urged Nigerians, especially the electorate in Katsina and across the country, to vote out the All Progressives Congress, APC, at all levels in the 2027 general elections, saying the ADC offers a better alternative anchored on good governance and public-spirited administration.
Sheikh Masussuka was a well-known religious figure in Dutsin-Ma with a large followership across the state.
